An Officer and a gentleman
It is with heavy heart that I report the passing of Jeff Officer, 62 years old, the inventor of Accutase and Accumax.
During the early 1990's Jeff was a world class surfer that won the then highly prestigious Webber Contest. Many people knew Jeff as a good natured surfer who was, quite simply, better than most of us. I was privileged to also know his other side, an independent businessman/scientist doing cutting edge product development of animal free cell culture reagents.
Jeff came to me 18 years ago and said, "Kevin, I have developed this amazing cell detachment solution which my business partners do not wish to pursue. I am getting a divorce from my wife and she it taking everything. You should buy this technology because it is such a great product and I don't want my wife to get it! So started our business of making Accutase.
You are sorely missed, Jeff for your intelligence and your kindness. Thank you.
